I will be listing a few select relics I have in my possession that i have picked up over my many travels across the himalayan territory- Bhutan, Tibet, Nepal and India! I can safely say all my pieces are genuine period items unlike the majority listed by other sellers as I have only a few and they were acquired not from antique stores in commercial districts but from local grassroots art dealers in very remote districts who were introduced to me by my dharma teachers! This is another piece I have procured from my kind friend Janki Tsongmal,his family has been dealing in ONLY genuine antiques and relics of buddhist and hindu tradition for nearly 80 years now! they literaly are the walking bible of genuine antiques and period items! This is an extremely special and unique dharma article and the work upon it is absolutely magnificent. One quick look will indicate to you the superior degree of Lost wax method employed to create this magnificent Shakyamuni buddha rupa statue! He has been blessed with an extra long and wide lotus throne making for a an extremely majestic resting pose upon which the earth witness mudra is struck. The PATINA the marks of wear has evolved sooo beautifully over the past few years Making for the most beautiful pattern across his entire body. Almost as if this piece has been naturally blessed to wear in the most beautiful manner clearly adding a great deal of its beauty and value which would be well in excess of $500! You shall clearly notice that every other "antique" or "old monastery" dharma rupa offered by a plethoa f chinese sellers are listed in the stores of their competitors and a clear declaration of their mass produced status. I can confidently tell you that this is one of only a select handful of dharma articles listed with actual historic heritage and purity. This you shall of course feel when united in person with this votive statue which radiates tremendous energy! Please keep in mind the extremely life like proportions given to this piece, the craftsmen of Tibet made it a point to concentrate on very life like appearances for the hands, legs and arms as can be seen so beautifully in the side angles and close up shotsCLEARLY YOU WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER HOLY RUPA STATUE LIKE THIS , THE PROPORTIONS AND FINISH DONE IN A VERY RARE TYPE OF BRASS GIVES A SUPERB GLOWING HINT OF A WARM COPPER TINGE TO IT! You shall clearly notice the distinct difference of how the art of holy rupa statues once was many years back - they have a charm that cannot be replicated and an energy that you feel instantly upon connection with it.I will let the images do the rest of the talking :) This staue is made of pure brass and is measuring a LARGE 10 inches in height and 6 inches from left to right and 4.5 inches in depth! CONSERVATIVELY SPEAKING THIS STATUE HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED TO BE APPROX 110 YEARS OLD IF NOT MORE. ITS ORIGINS ARE IN TIBET , WE DO NOT ACQUIRE WORKS THAT HOLD A LINEAGE OF BEING LOOTED OR PLUNDERED FROM HOLY MONASTARIES REGARDLESS OF THE WORKS RARITY OR BEAUTY, NOR DO WE ENGAGE IN THE PRACTICE OF "ANTIQUING" ARTICLES TO MAKE THEM LOOK OLD AS 99% OF ALL THE OTHER SELLERS ACTIVELY ENGAGE IN- AN ART THAT HAS BEEN MASTERED. Sakayamuni Buddha was born about 2549 years ago in Lumbini, Nepal. He was known as Siddhartha Gautama, a prince and son of King Suddhodana and Queen Mayadevi. At the age of 29, he renounced the luxury of his royal heritage to take up the life of a religious wanderer. He submitted himself to rigorous and extreme ascetic practices, putting forth a superhuman struggle for six strenuous years. At the age of 35, after gaining profound insight into the true nature of reality (Dharma), he attained complete enlightenment. For the remainder of his life, living as the perfect embodiment of all the virtues he preached, the Buddha ('Awakened One') traveled widely teaching the Dharma.
