( this date not listed! ). Rare! Diameter: 27mm Weight: 3.79gm Material: Brass Obverse: Moneychanger behind accounting table, head right. On table, a few counters. All within decorative gothic border. Reverse: Alphabet in five lines (omitting J and U), date (1553) below. Nuremberg, Germany, was in the Late Middle Ages an important center of production of jetons for commercial use. Later - "counter casting" being obsolete - the production shifted to jetons for use in games and toys, sometimes copying more or less famous jetons with a political background as the following.
