1666 Thomas Underwood Farthing From Old Colonial Alexandria, Virginia Building From an 18th century building (300 block of Cameron St.), a 1666 dated farthing issued by Thomas Underwood of Reading (attribution by my good friend Gerry Grzenda, he says that it lists as scarce), 1666 was the year of the Great Fire Of London ! This was removed from the cellar of this building during the summer of 2007 by my grandson (Luke) and I, along with a large number of other older coins - many were worn or contemporary counterfeits - I theorize that these may have been coins a merchant or banking house was "stuck with" (couldn't pass on). I feel confident that these were used here during colonial times so I listed them here. Interesting coins from the time of Washington (he lived nearby), inexpensive "show & tell" from the beginning of our country or a school display (?). $2.95 fully insured shipping to the USA . $3.95 uninsured shipping to countries I ship to with proof of shipping.
