It is all hand-hammered and meticulously chased from thick copper sheet Stunning decorations indeed, all hand done The illustrations on the pot retell symbolic scenes from the life of Zara, a deity worshiped locally along today's Iraq-Afghanistan border, or Zaradest (roughly translated as: Land of Zara). These people worship Zara along with Buddha, and many classify their religion as a Buddhist sect As is well known, Buddhism has been a major religion in Afghanistan, along with Islam, for centuries It was probably used for ritual purposes Ornate handles and feet Made between 1780's-1850's Measurements: Approx. 12.5" high with lid, 11" diameter (across) Condition: Very Good overall, besides the missing top finial, it has no issues at all.
