1794 Spouting Whale 1/2 Pence Token From Old Colonial Alexandria, Va. Building Description From an 18th century building (300 block of Cameron St.), a 1794 merchants halfpenny token depicting a spouting whale. It is quite dark from laying on wood for at least a century. This was removed from the cellar of this building during the summer of 2007 by my grandson (Luke) and I, along with a large number of other older world coins - many were worn or contemporary counterfeits - I theorize that these may have been coins a merchant or banking house was "stuck with" (couldn't pass on). I feel confident that these were used here during colonial times so I listed them here. Interesting coins from the time of Washington (he lived nearby), inexpensive "show & tell" from the beginning of our country or a school display (?). $2.95 fully insured shipping to the USA . $3.95 uninsured shipping to countries I ship to with proof of shipping. If paypal is a problem let me know & we'll work something out. I combine lots to save shipping costs, thank you for looking & good luck. gbai Payment Paypal is accepted but not preferred.
