A very large engraving from the first edition of the famous Macklin Bible -- said to be the largest illustrated English Bible ever made . Title: "The Death of Sapphira." (Acts 5:7-10) Artist: J. Opie R.A. Engraver: J. Description: This is an original, antique, copper-plate engraving on the highest quality hand-made paper. Published by Thomas Macklin (1760-1800), Poet's Gallery, Fleet Street, London. The Bible containing this print was published in 1800. It is one of the most famous English Bibles. The artists, on whose works the engravings were based, were said to be the most eminent in England at the time. T were 68 full page biblical engravings in the Bible. The full set is selling (in October of 2006) in the $18,000 to $25,000 range. At this time individual printed text leaves (with no illustration) are selling on Ebay for $25.
