This is a real look into the life of Josiah Hendrick in Buchanan County, MO and his family. The county was founded in 1838 and these letters stretch from the early 1850's into the 1860's with one dating to 1839. They are from relatives who have varying degrees of penmenship, some being really fantastic, and education levels, some using vernacular and slang that is pretty amusing.
