(Hiram Bingham, formally Hiram Bingham I (1789–1869), was leader of the first group of Protestant missionaries to introduce Christianity to the Hawaiian islands.) -- CIRCA 1820s-1830s, FOLDED LETTER IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, ALSO ENCLOSED 2 PAGE HAND WRITTEN POEM BY BINGHAM WHICH IS MENTIONED IN THE FOLDED LETTER, SENT TO"REV. E.W. & M.K. CLARK" (REVEREND EPHRAIM W CLARK) IN LAHAINALUNA (A missionary who had come to the islands in the third company in 1828, but did not become associated with the Maui work until 1835 was the Rev. Ephraim W. Clark from Peacham, Vermont. Mr. Clark labored at Lahainaluna until 1843, at which time he moved to Wailuku, serving the cause there until 1848, when he became pastor of the Kawaiahao Church in Honolulu.
