Paradise Lost, a Poem in Twelve Books. Milton, John. London: John Sharpe:1827. An early issue of the Sharpe illustrated printing, in two vols. With two engraved titles to the volume from artwork by Richard Westfall and with many fine illustrations throughout afterWestfall and engraved by Charles Rolls. Small books, measuring roughly 6" x 4" , in a very handsome and lightly worn leather binding (Regency styled), both covers with gilt rolled borders.. The spine with raised bands gilt tooled, compartments with Regency styled panel designs of gilt and blind tooled decorations, title labels a bit faded but legible, all edges marbled. Twelve books of Paradise Lost and engravings to each book, unpaginated. Marbled endpapers. Light wear to extremities, hinges intact; top of v2 spine is missing a bit of leather, interior quite bright with a bit of foxing on some of the engravings, vol 1 signed by former owner on first clean EP.
