This is an 1836 large cent in approximately Fine condition. I am not a professional grader so this is an estimate, based on the red book and on the holder this coin was bought in, which lists the coin as Fine. Please see the pictures for details. The color in the pictures is a bit darker than the coin actually is, but I used photos instead of scans because they showed the details and the damage much clearer. It has been circulated with the usual light scratches, with most wear on the stars, border, and face, though the LIBERTY is clear, you can see the hair band pretty well. The hair line is mostly smooth. There is a cud or die break at about the 1:00 position, which is fairly common for this year. On the obverse, there is a little bit of iridescence around the chin and neck. On the reverse, there is the same usual circulated wear, with some of the leaves and berries still looking quite nice. There is a dark dot of something on the M in AMERICA.
