Here onconsignment for auction from one of the convents we work with, is one of several rare medals, from a recently discovered draw full of nun’s antique and Vintage medals that were in storage. In the pictures above, is the chest of draws where the medals were discovered at the convent. This is a rare medal because it was issued in one year only for the 1837 beatification of Martin of Porres, who would not be canonized until 1962. This medal is 1.25 inches long, and the wording on the back is in English. Information about the dating of this medal may be found on page 2, and 3 of the book AN INTRODUCTION TO RELIGIOUSE MEDALS, by Bob Forrest, and published by NUMISMATICA INTERNATIONAL in 2004. The book has chapters (outlined in the table of contents) for dating all types of Catholic medals, descriptions of each category of medals, their original place of pilgrimage, and origin. We recommend that anyone serious about collecting medals from this period, acquire a copy of this book as we have. We always provide a full NO QUESTIONS ASKED, refund within 14 days of an items arrival. The item must be returned insured, and in the same condition as in the pictures; returns are paid by us.
