This is a very Rare Document Signed By James K. Polk President of the United States. It is a Presidential and Secretary of the Treasury Appointment To Peter Dixey of Marblehead, Massachusetts for Collector of Customs for the District of Marblehead in the State of Massachusetts. It is signed Twenty-sixth Day Of February 1846.This is an outrageous find. Also for bid is the original metal Mailing tube. That is addresed to Dixey trolers Office Collection of Customs Marblehead Massachusetts. The Document is in fine shape with no smudges The middle fold has been spot taped and appears to have seperated at some time. The secretary of the treasury R. Walker has also signed the left of Document. Robert J. Walker was very instrumental in helping Polk revive the Independent Treasury. He also helped lower the tariff, which was two of Polks goals he wanted in his term. Both Signatures are vivid with no wipes. It has the The Seal of the Treasury Department still affixed to the lower left. This is an amazing Document considering the Original Document Mailing tube with the name Dixey and the document with the same. These definetly have to stay together for authenticity"s sake. It measures 17 inches by 14 inches tall. This Document and Mailing Tube is fresh from an estate auction in New Hamphire. The Document was found rolled up in the tube. This read more
