Antique Staffordshire Flow MulberryTransferware Plate Item Description: Up for auction is a very nice antique flow mulberry transferware plate manufactured in Staffordshire, England in 1849. The plate is in the Rhone Scenery pattern and it was manufactured by TJ & J Mayer. The plate has a slightly scalloped form with a scene of the Rhone River. The plate features a scroll and floral border, and the plate is marked on the back with the pattern name and manufacturer. Overall the plate measures approximately 9 3/4" in diameter. Item Condition: The overall condition of the plate is excellent. It is extremely clean and has no chips, cracks, or broken areas. The white earthenware is still quite bright and the mulberry color is bold with nice contrast. The glaze is glossy with fine consistent crazing and t are light utensil marks on its surface. The plate displays slight rubbing and glaze wear to the edge and back, but it is not severe. Please be sure to check out my other auctions for more great items!
