1850's handwritten copy book. Summitville, PA. Dimond.

This is the "copy book" of a child, possibly two children learning their penmanship and other lessons from a teacher or tutor. The handmade book measures approximately 8 x 7 inches, and consists of about 150 pages roughly sewn together. One or more pages reads, "Jesse H. Summitville, Pennsylvania is now part of the township of Cresson, in Cambria County, between Johnstown and Altoona.
