Up for sale is this important historical painting of the "Gipsy Queen" the 1851 British Cup Winner ,I have chased this painting for 5 years finally the former owner decided to sell it,originally came from the Salem Mass area,25 years ago.The painting is an oil on canvas waxed relined ,with some restoration in the sky on the left & right side,one tiny dot on a sail and the British flag was tuched up,the ship itself was not touched.It isn often you get to see these antique paintings in perfect condition,The painting is unsigned but might be attributed to Elisha Baker a well known American maritime artist worked in this time period,if so he last auction records were over 45.000.00.the painting is 27 X 40 and the frame is 32 X 45 carved gilt frame ,with minor corner damages.If you are into sailing, boating ,historical cup races or just like to own a piece of history ,Displays well ,if you need more info please write me....
