Very rare original of the Illustrated News , New York No. 20 Vol. 1 Saturday , May 14, 1853 covering a famous railroad disaster which happened in Norwalk , CT. Most treasure hunters or metal detecting folks know about this famous railroad diaster which happened in which a New York jeweler at the time was travelling to Boston with a load of very expensive diamonds and jewels to a socialite party of very wealthy people in Boston. His name wasThaddeus Birke, he was a wealthyy jeweler from New York City. I have read that when the train diaster occurred and the train hit the bridge and ended in the water ,many people were killed , and jewelry was lost in the Norwalk River. This is an actual account of the railroad disaster as it happened and all of the indentified people and what actually happened at the time. It is a fascinating look in the past.
