Offered exclusively by The Leader In Quality! is this antique fraternity pin for Sigma Phi ! Founded as one of the premier greek letter societies, part of the "Union Triad" at Union College. The society was founded in 1827 and has maintained very high standards, in one way by limiting it's growth and membership. Of course with limited membership, comes a limited volume of these type of historic pieces. It tested 14k gold. The Sigma is jeweled in semi precious jet stones and is placed upon the finely hand etched Phi. A stunning monogram badge! It measures 3/4" X 3/4". Engraved information on the reverse, is the name of James M. Paul . There are also the two codes of S.T.F.L P.L.G.Y. James Marshall Paul entered into Sigma Phi in 1857. (Note founding and initiation dates on the front of the badge.) He graduated from Williams College in 1860 and here is some additional information about him. James Marshall Paul. Native of Philadelphia. Served in Pennsylvania regiment at the time of Lee's invasion in 1862. By 1866 in Colorado. Member of Colorado Senate in 1872. Died suddenly in 1878.
