This is an original string bound set of General Orders from The War Dept., Adjutant Generals Office, issuing the orders that affect the Volunteer Force, featuring Abraham Lincoln's preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, General Order # 139, dated Sept. 24th, 1862. President Lincoln's Proclamation states that he will declare all slaves within the rebel states free as of January 1st, 1863. This issue was ordered, and printed in March of 1863. This is a rare and desirable printing of Lincoln's first Proclamation. The piece measures roughly 5 by 7.5, and is in fantastic condition, with minor water marks on the front and back covers.
