1862 Russian Ethnic Lithograph Polish near Krakow J.B. Kuhn Narody RossiThis lithograph is titled "polonais environs de cracovie" which translated is Polish near Krakow. It depicts the common garb of of the polish people in the mid 1800's. The text on the left side under the image roughly translates to "The bleak nature through Viale" The text on the right translates to "Impr. by J.B. Kuhn of Munich." Both are translated from FrenchI have 6 of these lithographs and it is believed they are from the 1862 book by Pauli "Narody Rossi" and that these are the illustrations used by Gardner as the basis of his figures depicting the different ethnic groups in the Russian empire in the mid to late 1800's. There are a number of reproductions of these prints but we guarantee these are authentic.Each of these lithographs measures 17 5/16 inches high and 12 11/16 inches wide. The exact dimensions of the image is 12 5/8 inches high and 8 3/4 inches wide.Condition: This Lithograph some degree of browning of the paper but the paper is still quite supple. This litho has holes in the corners from where it was tacked to a wall. This lithograph also has some very minor creasing along the bottom right hand corner and there is a 1/4" tear along the left hand edge.
