ST. NICHOLAS : Scribner's Illustrated Magazine for Girls and Boys Conducted by Mary Mapes Dodge Volume III full year November, 1875 to November, 1876 Scribner & Co., New York Francis Hart & Co., Printers 1876 T are 808 pages in this book. It contains a full year -- from November 1875 to November 1876. All of the full page plates (one for each month) are in black and white. T is wear on the boards and they are also shaken but the text block is good and no loose pages. T are many pictures and intext illustrations with the stories--exs., Herod by Rebecca Harding Davis and The Wood-Witch by Emma Burt. One of the most interesting of the illustrated stories, i. e., the art in it, is The Cat and the Countess (translated from the French by B é dollierre) by T. B. Aldrich. T are 34 illustrations for this story and all of them are silhouettes. T is a story by Noah Brooks titled The Boy Emigrants . The illustrations for this story are drawn by different artists. Those stories I've mentioned are only a small sampling of the many wonderful fiction and non-fiction stories to be found in this book. The pebbly maroon boards are half leather. Both boards are attached but the backstrip is tattered and is detaching. As may be seen in the listing picture half of the backstrip is missing.
