You are bidding on an 1878-CC Morgan GSA Silver Dollar. This brilliant coin has excellent features, strong detail and beautiful cartwheel luster! The obverse has very light golden toning in the lower left quadrant. Very Desirable!!! Carson City dollars are the most prized and collectible mint marks of the Morgan series! This is a GSA dollar. The famous "GSA Hoard" was discovered during a government audit in the 1960's. Bags and bags of forgotten Morgan Dollars were discovered in a basement vault at the US Mint - most with Carson City mint marks and most in uncirculated condition. With the Morgan no longer in circulation, the US Mint turned to the General Services Administration to grade and auction the coins off to the public. Those auctions were held through the 70's and GSA Morgans have since become some of the most valuable and sought-after of all Morgan Dollars. Includes original GSA box and COA.
