What you see, is what you get! 20 lepta – King George I George, nephew of Frederick VII of Denmark succeeded Otto to the throne of Greece, largely thanks to the support of Great Britain, and after his enthronement in Copenhagen, in June 1863, he arrived in Athens a few months later and stayed in power for 50 consecutive years. Obverse: The head of King George as a youth, supplemented by the legend “George I, King of the Hellenes”. Reverse: The crown with the denomination appearing on the lower part of the coin and the year of minting at the bottom, complemented by the legend “Kingdom of Greece”.
