You are bidding on a Sioux Beaded Hide Hair Drop which dates to approximately 1890. You will rarely see these hair drops offered outside of auction house settings. These adornments are relatively rare and are difficult to find. This particular piece was purchased at auction and comes from an old major collection. All provenance will be shared with the winning bidder. The description in the auction catalog reads: "composed of a silver cow tail pendant, overlaid with a panel of hide, and decorated with rectangular elements, sinew sewn and lane-stitched in various shades of glass seed beads, trimmed with beaded fringe" The piece is approximately 34-inches overall and is in superb condition. It was authenticated by the Senior Indian Art Specialist with the very reputable auction house and hails from a 60-year collection. This outstanding example can be the centerpiece for any serious Native American art collection. I usually do not sell this type item from my personal collection, but I am aging and can no longer properly conserve the numerous items that I have.
