Offered in this No Reserve Auction, an original Vanderman Strong Box, chest/trunk c 1890's. Commonly used by Wells Fargo Express for many years in the shipment of items of value, these were unmarked by Wells Fargo. Padlock hasp to front, with reinforced front corners for extra locks as shown in photos. Small brass Vanderman plate is absent from front, with two small holes visible w it was previously attached. Sturdy solid steel plate construction with wood rails for reinforcement to top and bottom. Condition is excellent, metal is solid, with no rust or other defects save minor scratches and scuffs from use. Rarely seen for sale, these are usually priced $1200 - $2500.00.
