DESCRIPTION: This is the 8th Annual Catalogue of Horse Trotting Stock, 1893 Nelson 2:10 Oval Track, Sunnyside Farm, Waterville, Maine. C.H. Nelson was the Proprietor, and this catalogue was published in Augusta, Maine by A.W. Case in 1893. There are 68 pages in this awesome catalogue, which measures approximately 5 ½” by 7 ¾”. Of course, there is also an index of all the trotters, and Nelson is included. Nelson was a very famous horse, as all you trotting fans know, and he was from our great old State of Maine. This would be a wonderful rare item to add to your collection! The catalogue is in good condition for its age, with some folded and worn corners, tiny tears and some water staining on the inside the red painted covers. There is a huge amount of information on the horses he owned, including stallions Nelson, Dictator Chief, Wilkes, Red Hawk, Brown Rolfe, Trafalgar, Testator, and Lee Yaryan. Note: There is also included a small broadside tucked in the catalogue with “Fees for Recording Percheron Horses Heretofore Recorded in Minor Associations.” From the Percheron Society of America, Wayne Dinsmore, Secretary, Union Stock Yards, Chicago – Effective 4/7/11 to 0/1/11.
