1896-P Morgan Dollar Choice Uncirculated ! This coin is Nice and Original – Clean cheek - Amazing Color This is the coolest color ever - Just Stunning Iridescent Color Shimmering Luster Underneath - Surprisingly Well Struck for a 1890-P This coin has problem free surfaces : The 1896-P is not like a 1880-S or 1881-S the Philadelphia mint is much harder to find struck nicely & without unsightly bagmarks. Most of these coins were circulated and even melted over the years making nice uncirculated examples very hard to come by. It's hard to find a coin like this that has not been entombed in plastic anymore *** Why Reno and Las Vegas destryoed coins like this 1896-P on purpose ! Reno & Las Vegas Nevada made coins like this one very scarce on purpose*** In the 1940’s & 1950’s most of the silver dollars that were still being circulated, were used in most of the western States and usually where gambling was present. The banks would get these shinny brand new silver dollars from the treasury office and distribute them to the casinos. The casino managers started to notice that the gambling patrons were taking the nice brand new silver dollars home with them for souvenirs. This was depleting their supply and caused them to continually order coins from the banks and treasury and so on. T he casino’s came up with a drastic plan. They took brand new silver dollar bags by the thousands and sandblasted them with dirty desert sand to make them look ugly so patrons would not take them home for souvenirs. As a result many early date Morgan silver dollars would have been considered common now if it wasn’t for this deliberate destruction of these coins, so now dates like 1979-P, O. 1880- P, O, 1881-P, O, 1882-P, O, 1883-P, O, S, 1884-P, O, S and many others are very hard to find in nice Gem Uncirculated condition no really eye-detracting scratches or Bagmarks . This coin is an exceptional high end example for the year and mint mark. This coin is a true Gem with a hard strike showing every eagle feather & Miss Liberty showing almost every curl over the ear.
