Dad was the numismatist in the family, so I am sorry if I get some of the terminology wrong but here goes:This is an 1898 (?) 1 Yuan Chinese coin from the Pei Yang Arsenal. It reads "Ta Tsing, Twenty-fourth Year of Kwang Hsu". I believe the date puts this coin in the Guangxu Era. The coin is ungraded and uncertified. .900 silver composition. Round. No mint mark The front of the coin shows 2 Chinese ideograms with Manchu wording. From what I could discern, the central kanji indicates the coin is 1 Yuan denomination. Part of the edge kanji looks like the year is 1898. The edge is reeded. The back side has a dragon with the English lettering "Ta Tsing, Twenty-fourth Year of Kwang Hsu, Pei Yang Arsenal" around the edge. Y65.2 (if I have the date correct) 26 gm weight 38 mm diameter (I do not have calipers to accurately do the measurement) Ungraded Tarnished and slight wear. Nothing major as far as damagePlease, if you know coins and I have something wrong or have left anything out that you need to know, let me know so I can correct/update the posting.I have tried to describe any issues with this item as much as possible. I can post additional photos upon request and will try to answer any questions you might have that weren't addressed above.
