A WONDERFUL LATE 18TH OR EARLY 19TH CENTURY PENNSYLVANIA HANGING GAME RACK OR HERB RACK IN ORIGINAL OXIDIZED GRUNGY BLUE PAINT WITH THE BEST DEEP CARVED HEX PINWHEELS. PENNSYLVANIA, CIRCA 1790-1830 IN NATIVE POPLAR. GREAT QUEEN ANNE STYLE SCROLLED CREST. This fine GAME or HERB RACK is in very nice condition, IT IS UNTOUCHED and retains its ORIGINAL GRUNGY, OXIDIZED BLUE PAINTED SURFACE over the original red stain base coat. THE TOP CREST IS HIGHLY SCALLOPED AND SHAPED IN TYPICAL QUEEN ANNE PERIOD DESIGNS. THE THREE DEEP CARVED HEX PINWHEELS ARE THE VERY BEST. IT CONSISTS OF A LARGER CENTER DESIGN FLANKED BY A SMALLER ONE ON EACH SIDE. THEY ARE INTRICATE, DEEP AND EXTREMELY STYLISH. AGAIN, SIMILAR EXAMPLES ARE FOUND ON THE BEST 18TH C PENNSYLVANIA FURNITURE. Another great feature is the size. It is only 31" wide it still retains its FIVE (5) all original Wrought Iron Hooks with the best pig's tail ends and also its two original hand wrought iron hanging hooks. The paint is an oxidized soldier blue color, all original with great patina. It is worn and distressed from use, (which is typical). The base coat is the original red stained wash. You will not find a better rack. It still retains all of its FIVE (5) ORIGINAL WROUGHT IRON HOOKS. It was attached to the wall or Fireplace Surround and was used to hang "game", birds, small animals read more
