A 18th century or very early 19th century fragmentary carved wooden Philippines Spanish Santos figure of a Saint which stands 9 1/2 " tall not including the recent wooden base. Figure has its original white gesso and some remnants of its original paint over its entire surface but has lost its arms as shown as well as having a couple chips to the edges of the clothing and a chip to the end of the figures nose. Condition - quite worn as shown also figure lacks its arms and some various chips to clothing and end of nose. Please see my other early Santos and figural wooden sculptures which I am listing. A nice sculptural artifact. This item was obtained from the estate of a person who travelled the world during the 1930's and collected artifacts from various lands. Unfortunately some of these items which I am now listing are as far from my area of expertise as could possibly be so my descriptions are a best guess except that the items are in fact all genuinely old and the condition descriptions are accurate.
