is an original wooden shipping crate for Converse Rubber Shoes. It dates from the early 1900s and is 14 ½ x 26 x 14" tall. It has the same imprinted writing on each of the long sides and would make two authentic signs. Both the small ends are blank. " In 1908, Marquis M. Converse, in his late 30's and previously a respected manager at a footwear manufacturing firm, opened the Converse Rubber Shoe Company for business in Malden, Massachusetts and begins providing winterized rubber soled footwear for men, women, and children. By 1910 Converse Rubber Company was producing 4,000 pairs of shoes daily, but it wasn't until 1915 that the company began manufacturing athletic shoes for tennis. Basketball, less than 25 years old, was revolutionized in 1917 when Converse designed and produced the world's first performance basketball shoes, the Converse All Star." The crate weighs 12 pounds for a shipping weight of 13 pounds in the U.S. Hurry up and buy this before postal rate changes in May make this prohibitive to mail. I can also break apart the crate if you just wish the sides and the weight will be about 5 pounds. This is a smoke free but not pet free home. Shipping on all items to the U.S. includes Delivery Confirmation.
