This auction is for 1 - 1905 Gold "Liberty" Head One Dollar Coin with Strong Mint Luster. This coin has the appearance of the Mid to High AU range in my opinion. There is very strong Mint Luster on both the Obverse and Reverse. The detailing in Liberty's hair is very good and the curls on her neck are very clear and clean. The coin shows Rim Doubling on the Obverse which can be seen in the pictures between the 12 to 3 o'clock position which seems to be uncommon comparing the coins I have from this same series. The Reverse is very strong with the Eagle and especially the "Shield" showing very few contact marks. The fields on each side are quite clean as well. The lettering shows little wear and all appear to be very clean. There are some light contact marks on the rim which is the primary reason I estimate the grade in the AU range. I believe I see some very light hairline scratches in the left field on the obverse but I cannot say for certain, if they are there they are very faint and difficult for me to see. This coin has been in our family for many years and this particular coin has been in one of my type sets for the date. There are a few light contact marks on both the Obverse and Reverse but do not affect the eye appeal and are minimally noticeable. This coin has a natural appearance to me which would indicate it has never been read more
