1912 Ted Ray Signed Photograph

Pricing & History
1912 Ted Ray Signed Photograph. Ted Ray was a mountain of a man with a wild swing, but nevertheless a very fine player. His first major championship victory came at The Open in 1912 at Muirfield, whereupon the great Harry Vardon asked Ray to accompany him to America for a series of exhibitions in 1913. The English pair happened to tie for the US Open title in 1913 but Francis Ouimet scored a stunning upset win over them. During his second US tour in 1920, Ray won the US Open this time at Inverness. This is a magnificent studio portrait photo, signed and dated 1912. Stellar piece presents as if it were brand new, with only the slightest mellowing of the black fountain pen signature and inscription to a conservative 9/10. Image measures 3.75 x 5.25 with mount extending the final dimensions to just over 8 x 10. LOA from Mark Emerson. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Grade: 0, Service: Authenticated, Service No.: 2214363
