Rare, 1915, Women's Suffrage Election Campaign Paper Fan from the State of Massachusetts which was apparently distributed to spectators at a Horse Race Track. This outstanding Women's Suffrage item measures approx. 7" x 7" and is attached to its original, wooden stick handle. Printed on one side of the stiff, coated card stock Fan is a map of the United States Showing each State's position on Women's Suffrage (States allowing women to vote are white, States with no form of Women's Suffrage are black and those States Voting on the Women's Suffrage question in the Nov. 2, 1915 are "shaded"). The map is quite interesting as the States on the West Coast as well as most of the Mountain States are white while the entire country east of the Mississippi is black (except for Illinois). Beneath the Map is text that reads "If the men of the West trust their women with the ballot - Why can't the women of Massachusetts be trusted?" and "Suffrage spreads from State to neighboring State. This proves it a success. Vote "Yes" November 2.". On the opposite side of the Fan it reads "While watching the Horse Race / Don't forget one half of the Human Race / Votes for Women / Election Day / November 2". The Fan is signed by the sponsoring organization - the "Massachusetts Woman Suffrage Association / Gertrude H. Leonard / Terese A Crowley". On Election read more
