1915 SAN FRANCISCO WORLD'S FAIR PANAMA PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION PPIE LA TAUSCA SILVER WASH BRASS JEWELED CASKET JEWELRY VANITY BOX 2For your consideration is the La Tausca jewelry box pictured above. Presently, I am selling four La Tausca jewelry boxes from approximately the same time period. Was told the boxes were obtained at the San Francisco World's Fair in 1915. La Tausca was a gold medal winner at the fair. La Tausca was known for their high end faux and authentic pearls during this time period and their display boxes were outstandingly beautiful. Their beautiful boxes were probably one of the reasons for winning the gold medal. There are no hallmarks or other markings on the box. However, jewelry boxes produced by La Tausca in the early 1920's carry a US patent. Therefore, I believe this jewelry box was also produced in the United States but at an earlier date for the San Francisco World's Fair. At the time, the main office for La Tausca was located in New York City. In 1915 one of the largest producers of rhinestones was Swarovski.The jewelry box does not have its upper shelf insert that displays the pearl necklace when the lid was opened.
