1915 SAN FRANCISCO WORLD'S FAIR PANAMA PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION PPIE LA TAUSCA BRASS FRENCH ORMOLU JEWELED CASKET JEWELRY VANITY BOX DATED TO JUNE 5, 1915 ?For your consideration is the La Tausca jewelry box pictured above. So far, I have sold four such boxes from the same company and from the same world's fair. This was the best one and I thought I might keep it for myself but have decided to let it go. Was told the box was obtained at the San Francisco World's Fair in 1915. La Tausca was a gold medal winner at the fair. The original fair award seal and sticker comes with the jewelry box. On the round ribbon sticker is the type of pearls that were in the box at the time of purchase and, what seems to be, the date June 5, 1915. My research tells me that "Janis" could be used as the month of June. However, "Janis" could also be the proper name for the pearl set with "5/15" added. Will have to let you experts out there figure that one out.La Tausca was known for their high end faux and authentic pearls during this time period and their display boxes were outstandingly beautiful as one can see. Their beautiful boxes were probably one of the reasons for winning the gold medal. The seal says the pearls were French but the box has no markings.
