1922 Remington Portable Typewriter #1 Model +Case Works Description: This is a very neat old typewriter. It is a Remington Portable #1. I found a very cool web site that has all the details about this: /polt/typewriters/rem-portables.htm#compact The serial number of NP21622 puts this as the #1 model, made in 1922.This typewriter has literally been sitting for decades, so it will need some work. It does type as shown, some lightly, some darker. Some keys were harder to press down than others too. You might need and adjustment here or there.I don't know what all the switches and knobs are for, but everything worked good for me. The turning knob for the paper was a little hard to turn.The typewriter is in very good condition. A few light marks here and there. The wooden case is covered in a black material, there is more wear and tear on the case as shown and the handle strap is missing. The lid of the case holds the old brush for this. This weighs a little over 11 lbs, so 12 lb. package. I am able to get it into a medium flat rate box, although it makes the box bow out a little and I'm not positive the post office will take it like that. If they do, you will need to tear the box to get to the typewriter because it is very very tight with no wrapping other than a plastic bag! If for some reason the post office will not take it like this or if you prefer a larger box with better wrapping, I will need to email you back for alternative shipping .
