Vintage 1928 Metal Hoover for President Sign This name plate says it all...Hoover for President. Hoover, then Republican Secretary of Commerce ran successfully against Democratic candidate Al Smith. This oval election plate is tin and has a white ground with blue or green lettering. It is 5 5/8 inches by 3 5/8 inches and shows some weathering. It appears to have been posted on an outdoor site. It has two hanging holes on each end. This sign was part of a large sign collection in a local estate, and included with the Hoover sign was an Al Smith sign. Neither sign referred to the presidential election.
