In addition to preserving and protecting the history of the California Highway Patrol, the CHP Museum strives to educate visitors about the rich past of the CHP and how it evolved to meet the changing roadway systems in this country since the inception of the motor vehicle. Your donation is tax deductible when allowed by law.In 1920, a group of motorcycle traffic officers throughout the State of California banded together as The California Association of Highway Patrolmen. This group worked toward consistent, statewide traffic laws and enforcement within the growing network of roads and increasing numbers of motor vehicles.
