This crash cover was on a Boeing B-40 Bi-Plane, registration number NC275 operated by Boeing Air Transport which later became United Air Lines. The Bi-Plane crashed in Park City , Utah on March 11, 1929 while on a flight from San Francisco to Chicago . The pilot was Captain Ragnar Torkil Freng. One Passenger & a small amount of mail were onboard. The flight ran into bad weather and forced Freng to make an emergency landing on the side of a hill after the aircraft iced up in a heavy storm. The Bi-Plane was consumed by fire & damaged beyond repair. Both pilot & passenger survived. According to my research, Capt. Freng is credited with being the first man to pilot a commercial passenger plane in the United States in 1922. He was born in Oslo , Norway May 20, 1900 and died in Palo Alto , California on July 9, 1951 after a long career with United Air Lines. There is no doubt this is a rare Crash Cover read more
