This is a very old scrapbook of the USS Philadelphia in the years mostly of 1937 and 1938 and this old wonderful scrapbook weighs 4 pounds and it is loaded to the hilt with lots and lots of pictures, news clips match book covers of old ships, cards, menus maps, USS Philadelphia programs schedules and much much paper items. The sailor who put this fine vintage scrapbbook together left the ship in 1946 and he said it was the best years of his life to serve on the USS Philadelphia He amassed one great and large old scrapbook of history. His daughter sold me several items that he had while in the Navy and one is this wonderful scrapbook and there is an old t-shirt with the USS Philadelpia on it. I made a list of some of the great items in the scrapbook from 1937 to 1939. The man who served on and made this scrapbook was from S divison and there is a 1937 Enlistment letter - old business cards from other countries - vintage Cuba hotel & cigar seals - Presidential Cruise Program May 1 1938 stating that president Franklin D Roosevelt will cruise on this ship - a merry Christmas card from the USS Philadelphia - post cards - USS Philadelphia plan of the day program - Morning news order 1938 - lots of news clippings - Merry Christmas card from 1937 with the menu of Christmas day - vintage paper target with bullet holes in it - a toe tag that reads DEAD on it for someone - lots of pictures wrestling - boxing - program of USS Philadelphia verse USS Brooklyn with Rear Admiral Ford A Todd - divine lenton service 1939 program - palm Sunday on USS Philadelphia - vintage match packs from USS Cincinnati - USS Savannah - USS Nashville - USS Relief - USS Honolulu - USS Brooklyn - USS Nashville - Fleet Canteen- USS Naval Air Station - with dergible - USS Philadelphia. There are old tickets from Palasides Park - 1937 Canal Zone Army & Navy welcomne list at Balboa & Cristobal - another sheet of match packs of other ships - USS Boise - USS Mugforp - Rodman Naval Center - USS Henley - USS Phoenix - USS Lexington USS Arizona Fleet Air Base - Copy of United Artist Theatre Program Gone With The Wind 1939 - another sheet of vitage ship match packs USS Isaho - USS Colorado - USS Tennessee - USS California - USS Portlasnd - USS Chicago - USS Philadelphia - USS Warrington - USS Craven Rec Center - Puget Sound - US naval Air Station Seattle Washington - USS Honolulu - copy of minstrel show on USS Philadelphia program - full 2 page sheet of Polly Wogs - Royal work sheet for crossing the Equator on the USS Philadelphia there a large lot of black white pictures that measure 7 x 10 of ships and battle ships and they are USS Nevada - USS Arizona - USS Lexington - USS Brooklyn - USS Chester - USS Saratoga - USS Tennessee - USS Potamic - President Yacht - USS Downes - USS marblehead - The presidents Ship - USS Pennsylvania - USS Honolulu -Light Carrier - USS Milwaukee - San Francisco - USS Colorado - USS New Orleans - USS Missippi - the last item is on the last page of the scrapbook and it is a plotting chart that folds out and it is 31 x 26 and it has been used and is really neat. There is also a stack of loose papers that include three 8 x 10 pictures of a landing and old landing progrm from 1938 and long letter from the sailor made this scrapbook to his sweetheart. There is a whole lot more than I listed here. All paper pieces were glued in this book when it ws made. read more
