Here is the fascinating and rare issue 1936 New Zealand Edward VIII Fantasy Crown. This rare 1950 silver fantasy crown comes as originally issued in a beautifully appointed display box. The coin comes seated in a white plastic display holder and displays toning on both sides. This rare coin tells the story of King, Edward VIII who was appointed to the British throne in 1936. But being only human King Edward fell in love with Wallis Simpson, an American twice divorced and who was deemed an unacceptable prospect for Queen. King Edward proved that love has no bounds and as a result relinquished his title eleven months later, before ever being crowned. He was the only British monarch to voluntarily abdicate the throne. This silver fantasy crown recalls the shortest reigning British monarch in history. England intended to strike coins for Edward VIII, but dies were scrapped when he abdicated the throne, and none were ever issued for circulation. This silver fantasy crown was created and privately struck in 1950 by collector Geoffrey Hearn to show what the coins of Edward VIII might have looked like.
