Get ready to gaspl!!! A 1937 Birks sterling silver jewel box resting on 3 embossed fleur de lys and hoof feet. The pattern is Birks "Edgewood" and it's a really nice old pattern. Not too fussy but not really 'plain' like most of these larger jewel boxes. It has a very light pinstripe background on a "V" angle with ornate scrolling on the sides, top and bottom. The cartouche is triangular and has no monogram !!! 3 ½" across, 2 ¼" tall (1 ½" body) with an 11" circumference. The lid has a slight dome to it and the tab lid lift has a nicely finished scallop edge. The box opens to its original navy blue velvet (or suede - hard to tell) box liner with 5 raised slots for rings on one side and a deeper cavity for pearls and earrings on the other. Excellent hinge and perfect lid-to-base fit. Very good vintage interior condition - the velvet shows some light wear on outer edges w the lid meets the velvet border. Therre are no rips, tears or frays. Perfect exterior condition -no dings, pings, dents or creases. Some overall surface scuffing and fingerprints - the box could use a bit of a polish. The squiggles and dark marks in my photos are just camera glare and reflection from an overhead weathervane. Stamped "Birks Sterling" on its bottom. A drop-dead stunner in absolutely mint condition, this box will ship in its original drawstring felt read more
