Up for auction is this rare and unique yardage celebrating the 1939 New York World’s Fair. Playful Art Deco renderings of the fair buildings are scattered over the fabric in orange, yellow, green and light blue on a deep blue background. The fabric has been made into a dress- the bodice of the dress has some tears, but the skirt is in relatively good condition with 3 panels: 2 trapezoid shaped front panels, measuring approximately 35 inches from hem to waist, each 18 inches wide at the hem and approximately 9 inches wide at the waist. The 3 rd panel is the back of the skirt (no center back seem, so the back panel is large) measuring approximately 35 inches from hem to waist, approximately 35 inches wide at the hem, and approximately 25 inches wide at the waist. The cotton is heavy and sturdy, though in “as is” used condition, softly faded as seen in the photographs. The tears in the bodice make it unlikely to be restored into a dress, but the skirt yardage is strong, and I think there are endless possibilities for this yardage- pillows, décor, art, etc. Coming to you from a non-smoking household. ***NEW INFO added Nov 29th.
