This is an original medal - Dunkirk / Dunkerque Medal 1940 which was awarded for the Dunkirk Evacuation in 1940. On the front it has the arms of Dunkirk (lion and dolphin mounted on an anchor). On the reverse it has a circle and a burning lamp with Dunkerque beneath surrounded by a laurel wreath and cross swords. It was awarded in recognition of the sacrifice of 30,000 combatants between 29th May and 3rd June 1940. The medal is in very good condition with the original ribbon showing a bit of wear.
