For sale is an original advertisement illustration style pastel painting by the highly regarded artist Charles Sheldon (1894 - 1960). We have several original works by George Sheldon in our eBay store. Please see our eBay store for additional works by this well listed American artist.This work came from a private collector in Connecticut who had an extensive collection of Charles Sheldon pastel portraits in their estate.This pastel painting was most likely an illustration for a women's fashion magazine of the 1940's or 50's.It features a beautiful red haired woman in a very stylish and fashionable yellow tennis outfit. She smiles delightfully with rosy pink cheeks and fiery red lipstick while leaning against the tennis net and hold a racket in one hand.This work like many of the Charles Shelton pastel portrait works is unsigned. It is undoubtedly by his hand. His portraits are instantly recognizable.Condition: Very goodNot framed.Measurements: 13 5/8" x 10 1/8"Charles Sheldon was born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1894.He spent most of his life in Springfield. In high school, he contributed to the artwork in the yearbook.Sheldon studied at the Arts Students League. He then studied under Alphonse Mucha in Paris.
