My interest in baseball began in 1951, when the Yankees dominated baseball, but the one player I still cheered for was Gene Woodling. He just seemed down to earth and was a fan favorite. In 2000 I discovered he lived near me and I wrote to ask if he'd sign something for me. His daughter responded, saying he was in a nursing home and unable to sign things. A year later he passed away so I purchased this bat so I'd have something signed by him. This is an authentic Hillerich & Bradsby Gene Woodling model "Louisville Slugger" with his signature engraved on the bat along with his signature. The bat comes with it's plastic display case I've kept it in, the letter from his daughter and the Certificate of Authenticity from CDP that came with the bat. It shows he signed the bat for them, but not the date. I've confidence in the signature and will buy it back if a reputable company states the signature is fake. While Woodling may be best known for his time with the New York Yankees (and playing in five World Series with them) he also played with the Indians, Pirates, Orioles, Senators and Mets.
