1952 AFAMERICAN FLYER 300 Steam Engine Reading Lines Atlantic 4-4-2 AFL S-GAUGE Cleaned, Oiled, Repaired if Needed, Serviced and Ready to Run! I will let the pictures do most of the describing. Need more pictures, just ask! Stamped “Jun 52” inside the plastic boiler AMERICAN FLYER S-GAUGE 300 Steam Engine Reading Lines Atlantic 4-4-2 . Black-plastic boiler, e-unit in boiler and headlight, perfectly detailed boiler with metal bell and steam valve. The pilot (cow-catcher) looks near perfect with no apparent “crashes” in its past, but someone painted it a dark green, which can probably be removed. This engine lights, runs, but cycles sometimes a little slow to reverse, even though I replaced both pairs of fingers and cleaned the drum. It was not made with smoke and choo-choo. Engine has been cleaned, oiled, and runs great forward, e-unit works well most of the time. Tender is sheet-metal with “AMERICAN FLYER” and the Reading Lines herald, some rust, play scratches, and paint rubs/chips. The original black-weight link coupler is on stamped-steel trucks with some specks of surface rust and tarnished journals, rust on sheet metal tender frame, and a few scratches on sides.
