1952 EMENEE The Golden Trumpet Musical Toy w ORIGINAL BOX & SONG BOOK, Arthur GodfreyThis great quality, life-size plastic toy trumpet from 1952 called The Golden Trumpet . This trumpet was produced by the Emenee Toy Co. of New York, NY. It has an alligator-print stamped on cardboard case, though the case is in poor condition. The trumpet is about 13.5" long and includes a lyre music stand. The trumpet has 4 sounding buttons or keys. They can be played individually or together for chords. The keys all play and it sounds good. The Golden Trumpet is in great condition. The set includes the "Golden Trumpet Song Book", a 14 page booklet of how to play various songs. On the back of the book is a photo of ARTHUR GODFREY playing a Ukulele. The Emenee Industries made all sorts of instruments 'from bagpipes to trumpets' but the Uke was their best seller until the 1960's when the Guitar took over. The trumpet's original price was about $4.00. This set makes a delightful addition to any collection or a fine gift for a budding musician.Easy to Play - No Lessons! Between 1955 and 1968, Emenee was located in Flushing, New York where it became a leading manufacturer of plastic toys while continuing to produce musical instruments. In May of 1968, the Ohio Art Company, a toy company from Bryan, Ohio, purchased 51 percent of Emenee's stock and the company's production was moved to Stryker. Emenee's administrative offices were then located at Ohio Art. Emenee only existed a short time as a subsidiary of the Ohio Art Company. In 1971, Emenee was manufacturing around 20 models of electrically operated reed organs, which were the most sophisticated instruments of the Emenee line, a dozen varieties of guitars, tambourines, rhythm band kits and other instruments. The plastic parts and metal assemblies were provided by Ohio Art and Strydel, a subsidiary of Ohio Art. On April 25, 1973, the shareholders of Ohio Art and Emenee approved a merger with the two companies. From then on, Emenee ceased to exist as a separate entity. Emenee Industries was founded in 1949 and produced mainly organs and musical toys for children.
