PLEASE ALLOW TIME FOR THE MANY LARGE PHOTOS TO LOAD Gents c1955 Vintage Hamilton Collectable Watch Here we have a rare example of vintage Hamilton gents watch which dates back to c1955 and is fully working and keeping time on the original Hamilton movement. It is fully and correctly signed by Hamilton on the case, dial and movement. This has a Masonic dial detail. It comes complete with a genuine leather band. This beauty is most noted for its unique dial design with solid 14k gold dial details. This watch was purchased from an estate of the Sec of the McDonald Lodge 324 (P R Hall) should this have any meaning to collectors out there. The Hamilton signed case is round with a shiny bevelled top and multi faceted angled lugs. The bezel is a rich and deep 10k gold fill and the back is stainless. The back contains information about the watch such as Water-Proof, Shock resistant and Adjusted. Bear in mind this was 57 years ago so I don't advise testing these claims now. The case measures approx 38mm x 32mm inc lugs. Please take a look at the photos to see this watch's elegant design. The Hamilton signed dial is highly unusual and quite possibly made specifically for the members of the masons 324 Lodge. It is silvery white and in a pie pan style. It has raised solid 14k gold batons at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 and black applied batons at the other hour positions. As you can see it has a large Masonic symbol in the centre. It has a sub second dial above the 6 position. The hands look to have once been luminous filled. The crystal is lucite and again in top condition. The watch is powered by its original Hamilton 730 calibre 17j mechanical movement which is very clean and keeping good time. It comes with a genuine leather band. Vintage Watches make great gifts for occasions such as Christmas, Weddings, Anniversaries and Birthdays. These vintage models are becoming much sought after and very rare so it's not something you see in everyday life making it something very special and unusual to give and receive. Rood and Henry J. Cain who set the company up in Lancaster PA. The company was named after Andrew Hamilton a Scottish born immigrant who was Pennsylvania 's attorney general from 1729 to 1739. Hamilton's first pocket watch, was designed in 1893. The railroads turned to Hamilton to put an end to railroad crashes. Most of the pocket watches were sold to railroad workers because of there accuracy and dependency but Hamilton could see a greater potential and went on to produce fine watches for a world wide customer base. In WW1 General Black Jack Pershing used a Hamilton watch to time movements of American troops. Hamilton 's golden era was from the 1920s to the 1950s. In 1920 only 4% of the company's watches were wristwatches compared with 48% from Elgin . This means that many Hamiltons wristwatches are now quite rare and coupled with the quality of their pieces, these watches are much sought after by collectors today, especially the Coral models.
