Dr. Nathan Ostich, the 52-year-old racing physician from Los Angeles, stands dejected after his jet-powered Flying Cadaceus lost its left front wheel at 331 miles per hour on the Bonneville Salt Flats in western Utah. Dr. Ostich escaped with a bruised elbow. The accident ended Dr. Ostich racing this year.
